will they be able to handle this much juice? I'm working on getting my brothers dcons , and i will soon have a ppi a1200. I'm kinda scared to do this to them. Anybody ever shot double rated to dcons daily??
Even Dylan had trouble running that amp on stock electrical, are you planning on adding a small battery or something in the rear?will they be able to handle this much juice? If not, no way in hell will they take it, that amp will be clipping to high heaven...but if so, there's nothing wrong with having extra power on tap for the subs. It's not like putting them on 600 each right away will make them go up in smoke either, they'll show signs of abuse far earlier than they will blow; so if they start getting smelly or the dustcaps start feeling warm to the touch, you will know to turn it down. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
I play sine sweeps and songs that have subsonic frequencies all day, and all I do is fuck with 6th orders with low tuned rear chambers and throw up to double rated power at subs...and I have yet to damage a sub mechanically lol. Here's what I always do...
Find the most bass-heavy song that you have, one that will push it to its mechanical limits. Set your gain all the way down, volume to its suggested 60%/75% limit on the deck. Now turn the gain up until it starts to bottom out, or right before, then turn it down a little. Now, no matter what you throw at it, you won't be able to blow it from mechanical excursion. I'm probably wrong, but I have never blown a sub before after doing this, so...
True, could always use atest tone would really push it harder than any song too, which would be a great way to set it
AmpGuts.com - Test TonesYou guys are probably going to hate me, but since I didn't have any test tones for a while, I used...yeah, you guessed it, Bass I Love You //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
Still have never blown a sub to my recollection.
"Didn't" was the past tense key word there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifAmpGuts.com - Test Tones

Ehh, it will be stock alt , big 3 , 2 batteries (one is a 825 ca duralast , the secondary will be a big battery , prolly a larger deka. Is that enough? big 3 and power cable would be 1/0 Knu Kca , knu fuse block with 4 gauge coming out of there , gonna try to mount it as close to the PPI as possible so i don't lose any current because of my 4 ga limitations on the power plug.Even Dylan had trouble running that amp on stock electrical, are you planning on adding a small battery or something in the rear?
