Its make perfect sense, just because a sub has a different sensitivity rating and has a lower power rating doesn't mean that it cant be as loud.how does that make any sense....HDC3's have taken 3k daily and type r's possibly 1k....so how would that type r have just about the same output with a 4db sensitivity difference.
i'm gonna say the AQ...mainly since if you blow it....just call up DJ or pm DJL here and purchase a recone....type r blows=buying a brand new sub.

There's more to it than just power handling. There are motors out there that can handle a lot of power, but absolutely **** for output. The new Orions and MTX 9500's come to mind.how does that make any sense....HDC3's have taken 3k daily and type r's possibly 1k....so how would that type r have just about the same output with a 4db sensitivity difference.
This is a good point. With the 10" and 12" R's, you can practically buy a brand new sub for the price of a recone from another company. However, the 15" R's are almost double the price (and worth double the price), but become expensive if you're blowing them. A recone for the 15" AQ is much more cost effective.i'm gonna say the AQ...mainly since if you blow it....just call up DJ or pm DJL here and purchase a recone....type r blows=buying a brand new sub.

this makes me think that the Type-R's will outperform the SDC's on the given power. If they can handle 3k+RMS, chances are they arent going to be at their best performance on ~2200the sdc2.5 12, for me has out performed the hdc12 that i used. same power (cadence ZRS9000 at one ohm), same box, same car. i say go for the SDCs. you will not be disappointed. i ran 2 12s daily at ~3000 watts. there a great sub.
also the SDCs can be reconed. big advantage over the type r.
