1999 Grand Am Radio Controls

I am installing my Panasonic CQ-DF401U in my 1999 Grand Am. MY friend installed an aftermarket deck and the controls on the steering wheel don't work anymore. Is that just how it is or can you still have those work??

I'm pretty sure that is how it is, but you might want to call crutchfield and see if they have an adapter/harnes

There MIGHT be an adapter but I'm 99% sure there is not. I have a 97 and my controls dont work either.

If the deck comes with a remote that has some of the same functions of the wheel controls those can still work.

You can hook up buttons to work as a remote for the deck

F that, $70 just for wheel controls.. dayum..

how hard would it be to take my steering wheel buttons out, and wire then to act as a playstation controler?

Ponder on that idea for a bit...we're doing it with airbags right now

Oh and that $70 is from Crutchfield, I'm guessing it would be cheaper in a different store.

yeh, i might take apart a controller tonight, figure out how i can do it.. but i dont know how to get those buttons out of my steering wheel.. if i could find what wires they controll, i bet i could hook it up somewhere in the dash..
