1997 Eclipse GSX System

I have a 1997 Eclipse GSX and its time i get the stereo straightend out. I currently have an Alpine head unit with channel 1, channel 2, and sub rca outputs. I then have 2 6.5" Memphis 15-PRC63's in the front and 2 6x9" Memphis 15-PRC93's in the rear, and i have an optima red top battery powering the car but i will probably add an aditional yellow top. I have (but not installed) a 12" type R in a ported box and an alpine MRP-M650 amp, an entire roll of dynamat, 1.0 Farad cap and pretty much unlimited 4gauge, 8gauge, and speaker wire.

Now, without spending an insane amount of money, what would i need to change or add to have a great sounding system. Of course it should be pretty loud but it has to sound really nice.

So if you were me, what would you do? I know i will need a 4 channel amp, but what one? should i sell my current sub and amp, and go with like a 10" or something? I really would like to keep the weight down also so theres no way im going with a ton of subs. Any advice would be great.

keep the sub and sub amp, then get yourself an alpine pdx 4 channel.

Depending on which alpine hu you have, it should have the capability to adjust anything that needs adjusting for good sound.

Not too keen on memphis speakers though, I would drop them and get some MBquarts.

Alright. Yes the HU is a pretty nice one. I am deffinatly fond of it. So which speakers would you suggest and would they sound really nice? Why do you not like memphis? How many watts is that amp? This may sound strange but is there a sub or sub&box combo that would still sound really nice but weight alot less? Only asking because i would like to keep the weight down in this car. I mean, its not extremely heavy so i can deal with it if i have 2.

mb quarts for speakers, not too many speakers compare, never liked memphis, all that I have installed sound muffled - near stock quality.

I would keep the sub you have, weight difference to degradation in sound quality isn't worth it.

You will be very happy with the setup suggested.

Your HU - mbquart speakers - alpine 4 channel and your mono amp with type r sub.

2G eclipses are very acoustically sound as well.

i dont really like mb quart they are bright and not near the quality they use to be.

Speakers are really dependent on your tastes, personally i think you should go give some speakers a listen before you buy them and decide you hate them

Where would i be able to listen to them? the only place around here that has speakers hooked up to listen to is circuit city and i know i wont buy from them

Ummmm you're joking right? My car is fully built and i drag it almost every weekend. You're probably thinking of like a 3g eclipse. Ever hear of johh shepard? he runs a 7.8 second 1/4 mile at 198mph. I dont want alot of weight in it. I mean yea, I'll still take the sub out to race but i want to keep the weight down on the street 2.
