1995 Dodge Dakota radio not working

We recently replaced the radio in our 1995 dodge Dakota. The reason we replaced it was because one day it just died, the display did not work and there was no audio. When we replaces it with the same model radio we had the same problem. I am sure it is hooked up correctly because when you turn on the power knob the speakers make a short boom sound, even though the display is not working. Any ideas?

use a meter and test the red and yellow wires for voltage, also check your ground.

I checked the wires and there is power going through them.
