15in. Oz ME in 3.5cf rather than 3 sealed

What difference would I hear if any with a 15in. ME in 3.5cf sealed after sub displacement off 850w rather than 3cubes with the same power??? Would it be worth it to take up the extra space? THANKS

It'll sound somewhat smoother and have a stronger low end. It won't be night and day, but the MEs like big boxes so I would definately go for it.

Polyfill will make a difference. Best thing is to put it in and try it out once you get everything. Use 1 lb of polyfill per cubic foot.

how exactly do u put polyfill in the box??? Do u just throw it in and pack it or do u tape it down or sumthing?

You just put it in and keep it away from the pole vent on the sub.

Going bigger isn't always better. You reduce the mechanical power handling of the sub when you increase the enclosure volume. Throwing more power at it when it's at max excursion is going to do nothing but possibly damage the sub.

Go ahead and check out the OZ ME on both of those. It averaged out louder sealed vs ported. Looks like my views on them ported were pretty accurate.

yea, i saw those stats earlier...guess u were right. Ill just go 3cubes and see how it sounds without polyfill then with polyfill.

what certain stats should I look at in a sub for it to perform better in a sealed box...such as Qts, Bl, etc. ?? And should the numbers be higher or lower? Im lookin at comparin a 15in. Fi Q off 1000w... Thanks

I would do 3.5 cubes sealed with the polyfill. The box they used for the 12 in the test (1 cu ft sealed) was way small for the sub and thats why its response curve was so peaky. It also explains why the avg SPL was greater sealed, peaky response = more SPL. If they would have given that 12 about 1.5 cu ft sealed or more, you would have seen a much flatter response curve and the avg sealed output would probably go down.

i believe ive done enough searchin...can I get a couple a definitions for the Qts and Bl...would higher or lower #s be suitable for a sealed app.???
