15" XXX, 13" tall

Well, I recently purchased a 15" XXX and a Cadence ZRS-9, (off Breakdancin11, great guy) and once I started doing measurements, I realized I've only got about 13" high to work with in my trunk, but I've got 36" wide, and around 26" deep, so I've got enough space, but I'd have to fire it upwards.

Does anyone have any suggestions as far as port location? Should it be on the front, top, back, whatever? Does it really make a difference? I'm thinking I should fire it upwards, and port it towards the back of the car.

Is there any reccomended area for port size? I know that length determines the tuning, for the most part, but is there any specific amount of area I should aim for when porting it?

I've never built a box before, so this is going to definitely be interesting. Maybe I'll post pictures or something, even though it'll be totaly lame and just like every other box ever created...heh.

It's a 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII.

I wouldn't mind making the box 13x36x24, that would be 6.5^3 ft, which would allow for the displacement of the port and the driver, and still have at least 4^3 ft, tuned to 27hz, RE's recommendation. I'm mostly unsure about how big the port should be, because I know that the box can't really be "too big", but a port most certainly could be.

Also, would firing up/ported up be a problem? It would be moving air right into the top of the trunk, which might cause a problem, or might not. I'm not really sure. I figured if I ported it into the rear of the trunk, it would be allowd to move the air more, because there would be more free air behind the box than above it.

Just slant the baffle, a 15 would be do-able in a 13" space if you did that.
I'd love to do that, but the mounting depth is something like 10 inches, and the magnet is 8 inches wide, and you also need space so it won't overheat, it makes it impossible to do //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

if its a ported box, you def dont have to worry about it overheating.
So, how much clearance do I need? Would as little as ½" be enough? Also, how big should I make the port? (in²) How much does total port size affect performance? If I were to make two ports, one on each side, would it potentially make it sound better or worse? Someone needs to make a really large FAQ. It would help... a lot.
