i just sold a jl 1000/1 with a 12" stroker today (1 hour playing time) - the stroker is just a monstrosity of a sub. 600 watts is way too little - i imagine you just got it to grumble a bit until the amp clipped. these guys need a lot of power. if you need an amp hit me up i have tons --- you should be feeding this monster quite a bit more than 600 max RMS though. $100 is a steal!

you can pry get a spec sheet from cerwin if you don't have one; smaller/sealed is what i recall for my 12" stroker - however (just sold yesterday) i asked them for box specifications for the ideal box when size was not a constraint, and they faxed me a box design that was a good 3.5 feet tall and had 2 4" wide 2 ft long ports!!
