15" RD HW vs. 15" HDC3

just curious all these numbers with aq on this thread are these all burp scores cuz i know they dont take that daily on music
Mine was a "burp" score on my daily set up since that's how I run it every day. Had a meet last year and a guy had a TL, so I gave it a shot. Did about 7 burps in a row to find the loudest freq and peaked at 31Hz. Subs were a fuzz stinky at the end, but that was expected after that many 10+ second burps. On music they never get stinky...

I guess I'm gonna have to get better at tuning, I'm runnning about 2k to each and can get them to smell off music fairly easily. all set with a dmm too, and when I smell it I turn it down.

Get it reconed to alum coils. Thats what Im doing. Sounds like the best bet..

Is it possible the songs your listening to are dropping below tuning of your box? This would cause instant heat build up.
yes that is possible...I do listen to rap and hip hop more, I would rather see a shit ton of air move than tl numbers going up.....but **** loud is nice,,,input?

If you mostly listen to rap then I'd tune to 35hz, so you're not playing below tuning all the time. I've built several boxes tuned to 35Hz for DD/AQ subs. Also consider going on the small side for the enclosure to increase power handling...

im gonna guess and say that your electrical is not as good as it can/should be. when you turn it up, the voltage drops and all that power the amp puts out becomes very, very dirty. Thus, causing distortion and smell.

i dont think you simply have enough power to get them to stink with that amp.

i could be wrong but that's my guess. Realistically you are not getting 4000 watts out of the crossfire amp even if you run it at 0.5 or 1 ohm. My very optimistic guess, that after the imp rise and voltage drop you are gettting 3000 watts at best. Which is totally fine for a pair of these subs to handle.

my second guess would be a poorly tuned box.
