15" RD HW vs. 15" HDC3

Yea after I played them, I went back, and felt the cone, and it was warm. Wasn't burning hot though. As for how I set my gains, I pretty much set it half way, then I used my bass knob, and since it has a clipping led, I was able to use that to set things.. Did you're woofers smell after that usage or something? Yes the aluminum coils are 100ish, but I will defiantely be getting a recone maybe in a week. yeah they seemed to get warm faster than I liked, and therefor don't even play them much anymore. I'm not sure the alum will handle it alot better, as before they weren't much better. I kinda believe that the hw's are still capable of more than the alum hdc3's

The alums heated up aswell? I will probably be getting a loaded btl 22 inch, when it comes out in a few months //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. A loaded 22 should be able to handle gobs of power.

Update! Well I beat the crap out of it today, and it didnt seem to like it much at all. The copper coils dont seem to like the abuse to much. Needless to say, next week I am ordering a recone with the alum coils, aswell as another hdc 18 for the next step in the system. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

yeah i had a copper coil hdc318 and i was gonna get it reconed to alum, but i ended up trading it for a RD alpha wish all come stock with alum coils and this one has the flatwind coil, and lol at ur sig

If you want something new, just get some btls then... Know for a fact they will handle the power..

So it held the power much better with the alums, or not that noticably better with power?

I've talked to him before....not lookin to spend the cash for new ones right now...maybe right now I'll just recone my XXX and run it....18 or 15 tho? hmmm

I'll get somethin new next fall...never ends

im soon to be in the same boat , and yeh i got like the exact same numbers on the TL with the hdc and alpha
