15" HC 5/5 in my books, Excellent sub.

Your chances of breaking 150 with an xxx are good, your chances of kicking the shit out of 8 RFL's is better //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I hope you put him in his place.. and take a picture of his face when you smoke him, and put a good old 'OWNED' label on the bottom

:p

8 rfls?

i find that a bit hard to believe. thats almost 6k dollars at dealer cost.

it would be a waste of time, and whoever bought them would need at LEAST a full size converison van or a dual cab dually truck with topper and full blowthrough to even touch the airspace those subs need.

and, to top this post off.. 8 rfls would whoop the SHIT out of a xxx. no question. even the resonant engineering reps would tell you that. 8 of them.. jesus.

XXX 15" + 5.5 cubes (@35hz w/ 58hz port plug) + Cadence A7 = Super Wang-itude.

There's going to be an IASCA comp in August at a local shop called J&S Audio. The guy that runs it is a total moron (he has 8 RFL's in 2 cubes SEALED each in his ride....it puts out an amazing 155 on the A/C and still sounds like a gorilla taking a healthy shit), and I guess everybody that's competeing pretty much are his droogies that think breaking 150 on the A/C makes you a god.

I'm going to make a point of going down there and showing his 8 RFL's up with my single 15" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

where do you live? i'd love to show these kids my new numbers

im getting close to 158s... new box design, on an audiocontroll..

It's on the outskirts of Washington Court House, Ohio.....halfway between Chillicothe and Dayton, right off state route 35. I have a feeling he only uses 8 of them for "wow" effect. It'd be way louder with three or four in big-*** ported enclosures (i told him that, and he said "The surface area more than makes up for it"). The enclosure he's using looks like a bunch of cubby holes that you kept your lunch box in back in second grade. The face is just a single sheet of double-baffled 3/4" MDF with a bunch of holes cut in it that correspond with the cubby holes.

They're in a quad cab pickup.....I'm pretty sure it used to be a Chevy before he riced it out (yes, you can rice out trucks, unfortunatly).

He told me that they're 2002 models, and he pays $375 each for them, and offered to sell me one for $450. I laughed at him and said "Why would I put that ugly sounding bish in my ride?"

I'm sure the right person could take those RFLs and do very big things. However I've seen this MTX van that has 24 MTX 6000s or 8000s(10s I think) with like 24 MTX amps, 12 yellow tops, three altenators, 10 6.5" MTX components in each door and I have never seen this Van go over 156.

They clamp the doors close when he competes and out of all I described, its not very impressive. He claims he doesn't push it.

Why in the hell would you have all that and compete and not push. HELLO! WORLD RECORD CHASER!

Some people! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

The reason this cat isn't "pushing it" is because (in my personal experience, mind you) that if you give MTX subs more than their rated power for more than the time it takes to burp them, they become paperweights. Be weary of anything sold at Best Buy (except MB Quart, PG and Orion....they actually make some decent stuff).

To me, the RFL is a worthless piece of shit. I have no use for such a device. Even shockers can be musical if you don't feed them a couple of kilowatts, but these things are nothing more than over priced tone generators. If playing test tones is your bag, go for it. But if you're going to do it, at least do it right!

I can justify paying $400 for an XXX because it's probably the last car sub I'll ever need. I'm going to feed it half it's rated power and hopefully it'll serve my purpose for years to come. For what I've paid for gimmick subs with enough chrome to make Juvy a couple pairs of dentures, I could have bought two or three really awesome subs that would have lasted me twice as long. I've learned that the old addage "buy once, pay once" is one of the truest things to ever be said.
