15" Fi Q Power Handling?

1kw+ was just fine for mine, just be conservative on the gains.

the MD2 puts out 1900 at 1 ohm correct? i don't think u can run that much to a Q even if u are sensitive on the gains.. gains dosnet really control how much power u can put to a sup it just matches ur head unit well ur supposed to match ur head unit.

yes, but if you turn the gains down far enough, you can get less than RMS from your amp at max volume for where you set the rest of your gains at. How much overhead you have is irrelevant 99% of the time as long as can properly set gans.

I had my pair of q's running off 2500 watts, they got a little smelly a few times, nothing I was really worried about and I'm a puss when it comes to pushing my equiptment to the max.

You must also consider that I was probably VERY rarely using all that power.

You are a fool.

Do you already have the q? cuz if not choose a different sub that will handle all that power or if you have enough space get another q and then you could get an amp that does 2000w.

why am i a fool?
Fi website states 1000 rms for the sub.. the MD2 runs at 1900 rms at 1 ohm.... dont have experience with the Q but my SSD could only handle 1200... so what did i do wrong?

Let's say your amplifier makes maximum power before clipping 1/2 of the way up.

What happens when you turn the gain all the way down.

Is it still producing 1900 watts and feeding it to the sub?

No.

A gain is not a volume knob, of course, but to some extent it does control how much power an amplifier is sending to a given driver.

I run with headroom as often as I can, because I am responsible with my equipment and I know when it is stressing. If I fed the FiQ all the power I had it wouldn't have liked it. But if I had a 600 watt amp and ran the amp at full throttle before clipping the amplifier wouldn't have like that either.

What''s good for the sub is good for the amp, go easy on both and they'll last a long time.

Any other questions?
