15" Fi Q + 400w...

Newbie confused here. Why would you be worried about hurting the speaker with 400w? From everything I've read here on the forums, underpowering a speaker doesn't hurt it. What am I missing?

underpowering a speaker doesn't hurt it but if you dont watch the gains you will be sending a clapped signel to the sub and they dont like that know matter how meny watts you are putting to it

Clipped signal's kill woofers/speakers, not under powering them. And since u just said u were clipping the hell out of it right now, I really hope the subwoofer good luck in the hands of u.

i consider this my first REAL sub... i didnt care that i was clipping my r, cuz i knew i was getting the q. im taking extra special care of it, believe me. anyways its not hooked up anymore, i just wanted to see how it sounded, now i know.

time to finish up my box...

3.7 cubic feet tuned to 30hz. double baffle. i decided to paint it black since i **** at carpeting. gonna try and attempt a glossy finish, but we'll see. i'll get pics if i can find a camera...
