15 or 12

Im trying to decide weather i should put a 15 or a 12 in my new setup. Im going mostly for sq but being able to turn up the bass is still fun for me. I'm Just wondering if a 15 is going to lag behind the music too much or will it be able to keep up because I listen to pretty much everything.

Any advice would be great thanks

it's all in the enclosure

a 15" can be just as tight/articulate as a 8" subwoofer

I had a 15" sub and it was more tight and played musically better than my 12" sub

yeah build a nice box lol. Don't throw it in a prefab

Get a nice box design or get one of the box designers on here to build you a box based around your goals and listening preferences

I would buy the 15" and tune low to get as flat of a response as possible. What's your budget? Maybe we can help you pick one.

I dont really want to spend more than $150 on the sub alone. I'm a college student and make $11 an hour haha. Although if i can get a much better 12 at that price I'd just buy it. also my amp runs 500rms at 2 ohms

I've had a single 12. Dual 12, dual 10 and a single 15 set up. To this date my favorite was my single 15 on 1500 rms.

For a very flat response you may want to go sealed. Since you listen to all types of music which most will have all kinds of different bandwidths. I would go with a TC based woofer in a sealed enclosure.

I feel a single 15 is a route you can't go wrong with. Your box and install will decide almost everything tho. Easy wiring, easy box design (single woofer boxes are easier to design and build, in my opinion), a 15 can play loud and low, but can still play the highs nicely. But so can a single 12, dual 12, etc. Build a good box and you won't be dissapointed, none of that premade bullsh*t lol

Actually that sub would laugh at your 500 watt amp
