12WO handling

they can hadle a little more than that but i wouldnt push it to much i would never recamend the wo though i think they are cheap and sound like ****

Thanks, but they really don't sound like ****, I have one in the box specs it requires and it hits harder than 2 MTX thunder 4000's with the same amp, but if you don't like it it's ok............//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

hey sk.

dont listen to that other guy, he just hasnt heard a good woofer b4. and doesnt know what to compare to //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

the w0 is a good entry level woofer. you must remember that they are jl's entry woofer so they wont take alot of abuse b4 failing.

what is the rms of the amp?? and what brand? and is sealed or ported box??

you would most likely be ok as long as you adjust the gains so it doessnt clip the signal and cause distortion. as we all know distortion causes excess heat and excess heat causes failed voice coils!!!!

The 12W0 is in a 1.32 cu. ft. sealed 3/4" MDF box. The amp is an MTX RT2400 2 channel, 200 RMS 425 peak bridged at 4 ohms. The 12W0 also has a single 4 ohm voice coil. The specs may not seem to match but I hooked the amp up to just the one 12W0 and it hit pretty hard for a long time. I think that JL makes good quality subs.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

i do agree that the wo is a good entry level woofer but i dont think that is good enough for me thats all i was tryin to say

the jl 12 wo is 125 watts rms which means that its 250 peak. So if you put that amp to two of then it would be ok but putting all that power to one might be to much. i mean it will handle it but not for long, not long at all. But thats just my opinion.

The 12W0 will handle a SOLID 200WRMS and 400W peak.

The amp will put out plenty of power for those subs and probably more than the W0s can handle, as MTX amps are highly underrated. It can probably handle a 2 ohm mono load without problems.

I'd try wiring the subs parallel and mono to the amp. Start out with a low gain setting and turn you head unit up to the max listening volume and adjust the gain till you hear just a slight bit of distortion and back it off till there is none. If it plays for long periods of time without overheating the amp then youre set.

Does anyone have an idea how much (the most) these comps can happily handle?
