i'm using an older (original first gen?) set of alpine type-r 6.5in comps in my doors (they were brand new in the box till yesterday when i installed them., held on to them for a long time) feeding them two channels from my kicker zx350.4 so 60rms each side.

the best crossover i have is 12db in both my deck and on the amp. i want to set the crossover at 80hz because these things seem to give pretty good midbass. id love to set at 65hz (my next lowest setting on my deck) but im too afraid i'll blow them with a 12db slope.

it's my first time having this much power to my fronts and i'm not sure where to go with the settings.

should i swap out the amp or deck with something that has better slopes? by an outboard crossover? is 12db safe? i listen to alot of rap and metal, but overall a good mixture of music
