12" FI Q in 2.7 cubes @35Hz

Here is a video of my buddy's sub in his 2008 Civic Si... being powered with a TXA-1000d. it's wired in parallel. we installed it yesterday, but it doesn't sound right..

he didn't want to wait for a box that meets rec'd specs, so he just picked up this box, which doesn't meet recommended specs, and i'm pretty sure that is the reason it doesn't sound good.

what do you think?

Is that a prefab box? I say build a better ported enclosure for it. That port looks tiny!

x3, not to mention that tuning is a lil high IMO for a Q, I would have done it at

32hz to take advantage of the subs strong low end.

I think a lot of people learn that lesson the hard way when the first get into car audio. I know I did and now I learn it's cheaper and smarter to just wait and do things right the first time.
