12" CVX with 1200W... too much?

I have my 12" CVX powered by a directed 1500D that does 1200x1 at 1ohm. This is my friends amp so its just temporary. The amp is overrated I think, plus I'm keeping the gains down. I want to buy a nine.1, but do you think that would be pushing too much power? It does 1200x1 at 12.5v, so probably 1400+ on my electrical. I think i'm already overpowering the CVX...

Keep the gains low. I power my beater sub [JL Audio 10w0] like 700 watts... no problems here =D

as long as its in a decent box it should have no issue with the power.
