10 hz can kill you????

Isn't a bomb going off an explosion, not a sound? Sure sound does come from it, but what you're sayin seems like that wind itself has a frequency. It doesn't necessarily kill people but in what you describe wind has pressure, sometimes alot of it.
I think you are mixing up pressure and sound just because SPL stands for sound pressure level. There are other forms of pressure, and just because it's in thin air it does not necessarily mean it is because of a certain frequency, rather, other factors.
An explosion creates a wave of pressure similar to those produced by a car stereo.

Remember, sound is nothing but the movement of air back and forth.

For instance, the space shuttle produces and big change in air pressure that HAS been metered (using a termlab actually).

Although the frequencies at which an explosion produces it's soundwave are far lower (and of MUCH bigger magnitude) than a car stereo could ever acheive.

isnt there talk about a tuning frequency that "excites" the ladies?
Yes there is. Its 33hz for a 120lb woman.

And I when I was in my bass days, would take and run 6hz notes @ 140+. It would mess with your inner ear and make you real dizzy. It was always fun making ppl throw up from the note.

No frequency alone will just "excite" the ladies on its own.. They would have to have their part pressed on something that would be vibrating from the woofer...

My box is ported at 30hz and if i play a 33hz tone nothing special happens.

Well I'm just wondering it is actually the sound pressure that would kill people from say an explosion, or if it is something else. You mentioned the waves of pressure are similar to those produced by a car stereo, but are they similar enough to say it's the actual sound? I'm just curious.

Yes, the pressure wave created IS a sound wave. Afterall, thats what sound is...fluctuating pressure. That's why when you see a nuclear bomb go off for instance, the pressure blows stuff away, then it "sucks" it back in.

However, an explosion creates a sound wave at EXTREMELY low frequencies that, when produced at such a high level, can devastate anything in its path.

this thread is very funny. Can someone please show me a link where someone dies from a car stereo playing too low too loud. I would love to read that story/stories. Or are most of you talking in theory.

In theory because I don't think anyone is willing to take the risk. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

160+ is painful and can make you disoriented. If somebody sat in an extreme car and they did a 180+, there's a very strong possibility that person could be seriously injured or even be killed.

i hear you but you really think it could kill you. I know sitting in an extreme vehicle will pop your ear drums, probably make you deaf almost instantly, but kill you?

OP-i've played 15hz many times through my sealed box and my old ported box with no problems.I'm sorry but i think your friend or whatever is still an idiot though

Yes, it could potentially kill you. A lung could collapse, your heart could beat irregularly, etc.
