10 hz can kill you????

well frying is thermal limitations.. you gotta also be careful of excursion at those levels...

maybe not flat but 15hz is possible to play without problems.. why not? what makes 15 hz so different than 20hz?

i'm not sure thats just what i've always heard and never felt like trying to risk it

well the thing is most music you play doesnt have freqencies that low, but that doesnt mean your speakers wont react to them.. and it wont hurt them... but when you start playing pure tones of 15hz... it can be damaging if you're not paying attention.. depending on how you have your amps set... you may never bottom out listening to music because theres rarely a 0db tone of 15hz... but when you start messing with tones... you gotta be careful

and this is also one reason why subsonic filters exists

serious?? i've always heard anything 20 or below will fry it? i mean i'm sure it all has to do on a bunch of thing like the sub and box and everything
Dead serious. But it can damage the sub on several conditions. If the enclosure is ported, it will be super easy, especially when the SSF is not set. The sub's t/s parameters can also limit it as well. Volume and excursion will make a difference as well.

Whenever I played sub 20 hz frequencies, such as those from Bass I Love You, I always lowered my volume about 3 - 4 notches. Plus, I was running sealed. The feeling and what it actually does is amazing if you have a sub that can play those frequencies and do them well.

Ever watch that Mythbusters episode on the "brown" note? It's supposed to be about 9-11 hz and will make you mess your britches.
well that sounds about right cuz he was saying something about losing muscle control and thats why it messes with your heart

You should freak him out by saying your playing a 10 hz note in your vehicle while you and him are in there and faking a death lol.
if you could get someone to fall for that it would be freakin hilarious!!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif:laugh://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif:laugh:

yeah but bass i love you is already has its bass track recorded at like 0dbs and is rough song on woofers... most other songs arent like that

and while yes it is very possible to dmg them from playing that low... its not impossible either

ok yea i was thinking ported not sealed. i guess sealed makes a little more sense on why it can handle it better

ported boxes tend to have minimum excursion at tuning (even lower than a sealed generally) and correct me if im wrong..

but below tuning.. the sub has no air spring and moves very very easily
