1 or 2 RE HC 15"s

I know all the bass heads are gonna say i should go with 2 of these, and I do have an expedition, so its not a horrible idea. But im kinda short on money and Im just wondering if 1 would get the job done, or do i really need 2? its gonna go in a ported box and is being run off of a jbl 1200.1. If i got two i would do the same with the second. I have yet to hook up the 1st setup. What mainstream sound could i compare this to, example...l7, mtx 8000, something ive heard b4 bc im new to the whole RE line.

ahh HC's are discontiued so inless you are getting them used. Your not going to be able to buy them from RE...

actually the SX line replaced the hc line. the sx is louder and sounds just a little better apparently. but its all up to you on weather or not you wanna run 1 or 2 if you have the rrom i would say 2 but if you wanna only run one of them then go for it itll still sound awesome

I love the HC- great daily woofer, and if you look hard enough you can find one for cheap. Low end monster.

it kinda depends on your taste as far as 1 vs 2 subs, i'd go two, but i run 2 in my lil s10, so i may have a lil diff tastes then you

as far as mainstream goes, i'd compare it to an L7, or one of RF's higher subs, only w/ better sq, it'll get low, loud, and sound good doing both

I don't think you're going to be able to use a ported box if you use that amp. To go ported, you need a subsonic filter which that amp does not have.

isnt that a lil low on the power end for a 15 hc? i just got a 12" hc and i plan on running 1200 + watts thru it =D

Well they have one on ebay right now which is why im asking and it is rated at 1200 rms and the jbl will do at least that, im just using to for daily driving. But as for the ported box situation, what do you mean, I can't use the sub in a ported box because of the amp...what do you mean? Is the SX that much louder than the HC, or is it not really worth it to switch up the whole system?

You need a subsonic filter do use a sub in a ported box. The ssf cuts off certain frequences so it does not screw up your sub. If you don't have one, the sub will act like it is free air. Here's a link about subsonic filters:

thanks for the link, but im still kind of new to all of this...Can i get a SSF for the amp, or should i sell it and get a new amp? If i can get a SSF, then how would i go about doing it?

1200rms for a 15 is fine, but they can take more

btw, you don't HAVE to have a SSF to go ported, esp if you tune pretty low, but they are recommended and you can mess up a sub w/out one, you just have to be very careful

i might suggest an eD NINe.1 for the HC

Tune the box low, you'll be fine.
