1.4 net to 30hz

Hey, i am pondering the idea of getting two dayton RS HO 10 subs, and they require .7 cubes to 30hz. they don't seem to require much port area(around 10sq inches) so that helps a little. I can go as high as 14 inches and wide as 28.

any help?

i have tried a few things in the reaudio calculator, but i have heard that isn't a perfectly exact calculator.

thanks!

I think they will like this 28hz tuning.

If you want 30hz I think you could omit port piece C and shorten port piece B by 4". That should give you 1.8 cubes net (after speaker too) at 30Hz. 2x12 port 34" deep.

I like the box better the way it is for those speakers, which is 1.6 net at 28hz. Very flat response.

^^^^^thanks. I think i would like a little smaller net volume, and i am looking at a little narrower port. I never understood it, but a lot of people have said that they require very little port area. I will keep this one in mind though!

.7 net at 30 hz and 10sq" of port is a horrible idea, and not practicle to build, and models horribly in software with the dayton HO 12. I will not be a part of building such a monstrosity //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

thanks. Dayton recommends a 3" port if i recall correctly, and that is less than 10 sq in of port. BTW, this is a dayton 10, and that is exactly what WINISD recommends. I appreciate your help, but it might help to fully read my original post.

Your right man, I thought this was a 12 all along, oops.

.7 at 30hz models fine for the ho 10. A 3" round port on

the HO 10 gives .14 mach, I still think

that is too high no matter what Dayton says. I would

shoot for .07 or lower.

A 30Hz box that is .7 cube net is still impractical to build.

Even at the crappy .14 mach a 3" round port needs to be

32.6" deep in .7 cubes. A 1x10" port would have to be 42"

deep, good luck on that .7 cube box; but it will give a slightly

better .10 mach rating.

With your max dimensions I would get the twelve and build

the box I posted.

But that's not what your asking for. There's always sealed.

But that's not what you want to hear either.

Thanks, i appreciate your humility. Again, i was looking for a box that is 1.4 to 30 for TWO dayton 10's. I agree the port is impractical for something as small as .7 cubes, but i think that 1.4 could be doable, maybe with a 1.5 or 1.75" slot port. What do you think?

i really wish i could get more opinions on this sub. I wish i could get by with one 12, but i am worried it wouldn't be as much output as what i am used to (TDX, ED130v.2, Claw mag, OZ ME).

thanks again

It's doable.

I'll try to give you the recalc specs to put in today.

Don't pay attention the thier numbers, don't try an "angled" box.

Actually, screw REcalc, they are now making a box where the left side

is framed by the top bottom back and front while the right side is not.

Use the pic I posted as a guide, just no port piece C.

I'll give you the dimensions soon.

You gotta build this box like the box above.

The way port piece B is attached to port piece A;

and A to the front is important.

Box width 24.75

Box hight 13.5

Box depth 15

Port area 1.5x12 = 18sq"

Port depth (length) 31" L port

box volume 1.47

box tune 30hz

top and bottom

24.75" x 15"

sides

15" x 12"

back

23.25" x 12"

front

21.75" x 12"

Port piece A

11.25" x 12"

Port piece B

16.75" x 12"

No probem man.

I think it's like .11 mach, a little higher than I like. If you have it in a trunk,

I don't think it will make to much difference. If you round off the edges, you

may need to add length, but I'm not sure how much. I believe you simply half

the length after the rounding starts. Obviously, you would just add the length

needed to port piece B, but I don't think you "need" to round. So if your rounding

was 1/2" on each side, you would need to add 1/2" to port piece B to make up

for it. If I'm wrong, your tuning will go down by like .5Hz .

thanks! I wish i knew how these subs sounded. I could fit two 10's in a box smaller than i have for one 12 now, and i am sure it would be a lot louder than what i have.

I understand that they are not super loud. But they are very accurate

and get very deep. And they are pretty loud considering the enclosure

size. I would use a 26-28Hz subsonic filter. I would not go to far north

of the rated RMS power.

If you build the box, it would be nice if you post the results.
