If you've got the room for the large enclosure and the power on tap, then the new XXX is a good option for you. The old XXX is usable in much smaller enclosures and doesn't need near as much power.

Both are excellent products.

The reason has already been stated in this thread... huge box and tons of power for the new one. For a 12volt car audio application, its.... less than ideal shall we say. HT? Sure. Car audio? Not so much.
