05 L5s to 06 L7s ? direct swap...

I had two 15" 2005 model L5s but I sold them locally for $400 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fro.gif.c695f1f814b01c4ad99fe7f8cccadd29.gif so I went ahead and ordered two 15" 2006 model L7s on ebay for $435 shipped.

I will be doing a direct swap for now, until next week when I rebuild my box. But im just curious will there be a noticeable difference in output and/or sq or anything else between the L5s and L7s? I know the L7s get louder and everything but will there be a difference if absolutely nothing else is changed? Not gonna change any settings on my amp, headunit, etc. They are goin to a kx2500.

I hope so. I just not really expecting it bc are they basically not the same sub except the L7 can handle quite a bit more power?

enjoy, you should see a difference, but the biggest difference will be when you get your box built, and set the amp setting again. that is when you will be the happiest.

Yeah I definately gotta rebuild my box for the wall. I also should be able to order a kinetik 2400 in a couple weeks.

This look like it would be a good box?

well they came in today. Had to cut the speaker cutout quite a bit bigger to get the L7s to fit. I thought the L5s and L7s had the same cutout sie but I guess I was wrong.

Got them installed, and you guys were right, quite a big difference without even changing any settings.

I hope my new box design above is a good choice for the 2 subs. Hoping to start on it this monday. If anyone sees anything wrong with the design please let me know....or if you see what could be wrong with the current box.

Ive already got a box built in the trunk. I had to build it in the trunk (not fun at all by the way), it did a 146.7 on the TL with my old 1600 watt hifonics amp.

I'm just tryin to get louder. I am keepin the old box in the trunk for now, until I know how loud the wall will hit. If im not satisfied with the wall I will just take it out and put the subs back in the trunk box. If I am satisfied with the wall then I will take the box out of the trunk and get better gas mileage and have tons more room for my amps, and batteries, and storage.
