Well, here is the latest install to the Merc, and GOD I LOVE THIS SUB!!!!!
Once again, thanks to Immacomputer for putting up with all my requests for different boxs, lvfive.o for being an extremely trust worthy guy, fbi90909 for getting me this motor, and last but not least, a certain "someone" out in LV that fixed my reconing mistake.
Not too much to it, except I "auditorily" compared the IA 20.1 to the Amercian Bass VFL 150.1. I set them both as close to the same as far as gain, LPF, and SSF. They were both set on the DMM 42.42 for 1800 watts, and the same 0 DB, 35 hz tone was thrown at it each time.
I have to honestly say, that this was VERY close when it came to test tones, but for some reason, the IA is much louder on music than the VFL is, once again both on the same settings. I also think I can conclude that the VFL IS NOT a 2000 watt RMS amp. I truely believe that the rating of 1562.?? is much more accurate. The IA on the other hand.......it feels like 2000! The IA definitely flexes more and sounds louder, especailly on music. I'm kinda torn between the two, but I think I'm going to have to give this one to the Incriminator even though I really like them both.
This set up is awesome, and I thinks it's safe to say that this is probably the last sub I will ever buy (unless I decide to try a Critical Mass or another XXX), but I will probably never sell this sub. The cleanliness of the XXX is the best I've ever heard, except my old Realm Audio 12s" were DAMMMMMM close. They were just as accurate and clean across the frequecy band, yet could get no where near as loud and take this kind of power.
The box is currently 2 cu. @ 33hz. Tomorrow it will 2.6 cu. @ 32 hz built out of Birch instead of MDF. I think this will make a diffence in the 30-45 range, although it hit everything really well. I'm mainly doing if for the weight. I will meter this tomorrow as well (hopefully if things go right) once I finish the new box.
Enough with the speak, here's some visuals:
