Im really intrigued about this sub....
I called nvx out in regards to how are you guys able to pull off "on paper" youre claiming 600 watts out of a 1.5" when Hertz with a 2" & JL cant....
At this price point to boot, too good to be true...
thats when he responded, its in the windings...
This sub looks great!!!!
How does it compare to the jltw3, the Hertz MPS, who knows... but theyre $200+ cheaper a sub
ive gone through a few jltw3's due to a fried the VC, thank god for their great warranty at this point...
from my experience the Hertz is more robust.
MTI claims im having the issues cuz the ground shaker box designed for my toyota is 20% to gig for the sub....
had that discussion when I was contemplating the mti box for the f150, he was pushing the jl's over the hertz.
I get im the customer & can pick what I want, but he was very adamant that the jl was a better speaker,
Im not so sure.....
No worries, never thought you were walking all over anything that I said.
They do look intriguing for sure.
20% isn't a deal breaker, usually, and you can place chunks of wood or braces in a slightly larger box to reduce the volume. It sounds more like they expect that you may not know this, or are trying to push you a certain way.
If that configuration is what they suggest, likely it's what they are familiar with, comfortable advising on.
So many sources of info out there, so many opinions, glad I've spent all my life, practically, learning a lot of this stuff. Not always right, but right more often than not.
Having acquired several sound recording certifications, AND being a musician, AND surrounded by a family of mechanical, computer science, and electrical engineers, I feel pretty comfortable predicting results in most applications, just reading graphs and specs.
Granted, that doesn't always translate to every listening environment, but those anomalies present themselves, in general, having the same impact in all applications relative to the cabin, etc., so you take what you garner from others, apply the math and theory, and hopefully it gets you at least very close to where you want to be.
I think the setup you settled on will be great - looking forward to hearing what those subs you got sound like.
