Hi there,
Expert assistance, all troubleshooting has been exhausted. Intermittent sound failure with both bluetooth & hard wire connection. The rest of the device works with all apps, the song or podcast continues to play without sound.
This was professionally installed, they are unable to troubleshoot. They have given up, I have continued trying to troubleshoot with firmware updated, factory, battery disconnect and reconnect complete. Sony customer service have no answers.
Thanks RK

Is the radio connected straight to speakers or is there an external amplifier? If amped, is it an OEM or afternarket?

No amp, it's a 2023 Prado GLX (Australia). I am starting to think that the Sony Head unit inbuilt amp is not powerful to maintain sound. Does this sound plausible?

Yes, it does. Not often but I have run into radios with a bad internal amp. You can add an amplifier or booster but may want to test the RCA outputs before buying anything.

Most head units have overheating and short circuit protection on the internal amplifier outputs. A speaker that is the wrong resistance ( ohm rating ) or that is going bad can cause a the problem that you are experiencing. A speaker wire with a short will do the same thing.
I would try disconnecting 2 of the 4 speakers and see if the problem goes away. If it still happens, reconnect those two and disconnect the other speakers. Till you find the channel that is giving you the problem.
