I used a Dremel with a wire brush to strip the paint off a steel cross member under the driver seat and used a self tapping screw to hold the ground in place. Everything works now, the amp no longer goes into protect. Thank you guys so much for the help!

It does it when only plugged in to the sub terminal. I am measuring voltage at the power and ground terminals on the amp, is that correct?

Do you think the reduced contact patch due to the drilled hole could have anything to do with it?

Do you think I could connect jumper cables from another car to the battery to boost the power and confirm whether or not the battery is the problem?

The amp reads about 12.45 volts when music is playing normally, and when it goes into protect it barely drops to about 12.41.

So I should connect the amp to another sub? What would cause the sub to have a lower resistance than it should?

The input terminal voltage is 14.7 volts and I believe the alternator puts out 12 volts and has a current of 60-80 amps. It's a 97 Civic.

The amp is a Pioneer GM-D8604 and the sub is svc.
