Mounting a sub + baffle/ring into a fiberglass box; which way?

Thanks for the reply I think you got it right to begin with though there's no attaching to fiberglass directly... The sub box already has an MDF ring built into it, though I will definitely mark and predrill the pilot holes in the ring in the box. I just had to use more rings (to sit on top...

Mounting a sub + baffle/ring into a fiberglass box; which way?

I'm trying to mount a sub in a fiberglass box (designed for the car) however the sub is slightly too deep for the box. The mouting ring on the box is recessed as well (a sub less deep woudl sit flush) so I've had to use two rings, one to sit in the recess and get to the level of the rest of the...

Getting conflicting reports on video playback combo: ddx512 + ipod touch

People have reported the combination working on the Crutchfield forum. From what I can see, the only difference between the 300v and the 301v is for iPhone compatibility. I'm assuming it's so you don't get that "not designed for this iPod" message and operation bugs and/or non-charging issues...

Double-din GPS head unit. Which one?

This is a good idea and I actually have a DDX812 + KNA-G510 myself, but the final thought of upgrading the receiver and keeping the nav has some disadvantages now that the DNX9140 is out... Speaking of "unauthorised" prices (e.g. eBay, online, etc.), you will save about $100 over the price of...

Getting conflicting reports on video playback combo: ddx512 + ipod touch

Hate to say it but you answered your own question. You need the iP301V cable to properly support the iPhone and you need the 2009-02-26 update for your DDX512 for it to properly support the iP301V cable. Compatibility list here: http://www.kenwood.com/i/kca-ip/eng.html Update page here...

well got my new radio today from ebay and.....

All you guys saying he won't get any money back from PayPal, have you ever bought anything on eBay? eBay has buyer protection insurance and when you pay with PayPal that insurance is extended such that you don't have to pay the $25 eBay deductible (they refund your full purchase price but not...

Can anyone identify my head unit?

X2, definitely something off-branded. Good luck finding any documentation for that. If you've already googled the model and come up with nothing, then you're pretty much SOL.

    Comparison Review: DNX8120 vs. AVIC-Z3 vs. AVIC-F90BT

I think the problem with the Z is that it is fairly dated at this point, up against flash-based nav units both with newer features and better nav software. Though granted the Kenwood DNX units are still using old-skool Garmin nav, it's still tried and true Garmin, which most people love. (Note...

Where do you guys mount your GPS antenna in your vehicle? Need feedback!

Most GPS antennas these days work fine under the dash, provided no metal is blocking its view of the sky. My vehicle has a roof mounted OE combo GPS/GSM antenna on it but it uses a Fakra/SMB connection while my Kenwood unit uses a HRS GT5 connector for the antenna. Finding an adapter proved...

    double dins

I honestly don't know why so many people "vote" for the Alpine. It's featureless. Can only play back DVDs and discs with MP3/WMA, and that's it. No JPEG, MPEG, no DivX, nothing. Low pre-outs, medicore audio tuning, and not easy to bypass (video-in-motion). USB is not even built-in. The...

    Alpine / Kenwood 505 vs 7120

By 5520 did you typo that and mean 5120 as in Kenwood DNX5120 or did you mean the Eclipse AVN5520? If it was the DNX5120, the Sirius and Nav will be virtually identical on the DNX7120. Comparing the W505 and the DNX7120, the nav is regarded as better on the Kenwood being Garmin-based...

Double Din Navi. Where to buy??

The F700BT does not have 5V pre-outs. Not even the Premier F90BT has 5V outs, it has 4V outs. The F700BT and F900BT are 2.2V, not a whole lot of difference from 2V. Yes the F700BT has 3 sets, the DDX512/DNX5120 has "only" 2 sets, but what do you really need 3 sets for anyway? On the 512/5120...

looking to put a DDIN F-90bt in a 04 honda accord

Someone must make a double-DIN install kit for this car, no? Probably pricey because of the controls and what not. I always hated integrated dashes for this reason. They look nice but kill you when you have to upgrade the invariably craptastic stock stereo.

Kenwood KVT-512 how is the equalization and controls on it.

Good description here: http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?i=113KVT512&search=KVT-512&tp=75&tab=detailed_info#Audio_Features Should be able to tell from that if it will do what you want it to, audio-wise
