So I've been using this sub for about 7 years and its a 2004 I believe model. All of a sudden my concerns really started to bother me so I am thinking about building a new box for it. I currently have it in a 2.0 ft^3 box tuned to 32 Hz. Although it gets reasonably loud (hit somewhere in the low...
Don't mean a **** thing at least for smaller cars when they bring out the flatbed truck.
And not to jump on the race card, but something like 3 of the top 5 cities with the highest rates of stolen cars in the United States happen to be in teh Central Valley of California. Guess what the...
So my Pioneer is going to hell and it looks like I will be doing some HU shopping. I haven't really researched HU's in about 5 years so I am not knowledgable about what is worthwhile. The things I am looking for:
USB port. I am not sure if drive capacity is an issue, but one that can handle...
I have that sub in a 2ft^3 ported box at 32Hz and yeah my rolloff is ridiculous. It hits those low lows pretty nice, but everything in the bass range of most music is non existent.
You may want to go with a smaller box tuned to a higher frequency.
Right off the bat I know newer RE subs tend to be more focused on really low end frequencies and they have pretty steep roll offs. My SE's are like that and from what I have heard its the case with the other models... So the lack of higher frequencies maybe attributed to that.
With that being...
It will work, but as others said this thing really needs more power. I would say at least 750 watts. That is what I am running and even then it does not seem like enough.
For sounds quality Alpine and Pioneer are very similar.
But when it comes to build quality, Alpine>>>>>>>>>>>Pioneer
Guaranteed after a year there will be some kind of functionality problem with the Pioneer.
Beware of stuff not specifically made for car applications. Most of those products (ie Peel and Seal) have a lot lower heat tolerances than say Dynamat. You may end up cleaning tar adhesive from the bottom of your trunk.
Those things could probably use another 1200D. I am running a 12" SE with a Kicker ZX750.1 and that thing is just asking for more.
I would say do what you can to emphasize the higher notes as this sub rolls off at a really low frequency. I would say 1.75 ft^2 tuned to 35 to 37 HZ.
I say build it yourself. It really isn't that hard. I am terrible with tools, but I have built two solid boxes. Been running one for about two years now. If you do not have a table saw, go to a lumber yard. They do pretty good cuts. When I built my first box after buying the wood and the...
Car Audio seems like a better hobby than business. Especially in this economy. See the theft rates in your area. Higher theft is repeat customers from those stolen from as well as new customers trying to get those stolen goods installed.
