if you actually run 1000 watts and never upgrade, you'll probably never see a difference. If you upgrade (which almost everybody does eventually) then it might matter. As others have said, generally it's better to go with high quality stuff to prepare for the eventual upgrade - and go with...
I agree 100% with the guys who suggested getting rid of the 6.5" drivers and using a 4-way setup consisting of: tweeter, 4" mid, 8" midbass, subs
The MS-8 only has 8 outputs, so NO, it will NOT properly run a 5-way setup which requires 10 outputs.
I'd say the two 12s. I know that's what "everybody" runs though haha.
They will play lower than the 8s and have more cone area/ motor force than the 15.
AH. Well, first of all make sure they are in phase. If they are then move on to level matching. Since if you're using passives it's tougher, you can't just crank the midbass speakers up, instead you'll have to use EQ to get it sounding the way you want.
the 97 and the 2000+ are not the same body style, definitely worth measuring first. I have owned BOTH body styles and neither one was very accessible, Mustangs are notorious for their prohibitively small trunk openings.
I've done that, but the opening is still not very large... it all depends...
radio shack car audio gear.
I worked at radio shack back in like 1997 and got my first audio gear there. The amp was like 10% THD and the woofers were pretty low budget.
I can't say for sure, there are too many variables. The single 12" has more cone area, but the two 8s can handle more power overall. It's really a crap shoot. Most likely it will sound different but not much better overall. It might be an enjoyable change for a couple months but the novelty...
Two 15s is more cone area than the single 18, so if you're going for loudness the two 15s is probably your best bet. At that point it comes down to budget and personal preference. There are SO many possibilities for 15" woofers around 1k RMS. 2k is about the minimum acceptable power for a LMS...
you could do two 10s in the trunk of that mustang, I've seen that done multiple times and it works great. I even did three 10s in the trunk of a mustang once in a sealed box, which worked out great too.
As far as doing 8s... yeah they're interesting, but within the same line of woofers, the...
no, the formula is pi* r^2
for the 12 it's 3.1415*6^2 = 113.09 versus the two 8s which is 2*(3.1415*4^2) = 100.53
Anyway, fitting a 15 in the trunk of the mustang is possible if you do woofer up port sideways, but it's going to be VERY tight and you are probably going to have to actually...
you could also check out Rainbow, Morel, or maybe even a used set of Dynaudio?
I recently saw a set of Focal KRX2 6.5" used for the neighborhood of $500, those are amazing speakers.
