Yeah I wouldn't have thought so either, but when in 2 ohm mode it will shut off before it gets very loud. Its a stock 100 amp alt, but i haven't upgraded the wiring at all yet. I'll just do that when i put the new one in.

Thanks for your input guys. I think I am just going to wait a little longer and get an H.O. alt. In the meantime I'll just put my subs in 4 ohm mode so they draw less current.
