New amp distorts when both channels are connected. What gives?

Well, I'm an idiot. While I was fiddling with the gains, I noticed I had the polarity of one of the rear speakers reversed. In my defense, I installed it at midnight when I got home from work and lighting wasn't the best. That's what I tell myself anyway... I love this thing now! Wayy more...

New amp distorts when both channels are connected. What gives?

I just bought a Massive NX4 to replace an old Precision Power PPI-3050. Very nice looking amp, slight problem though, the NX4 is heavily distorting when trying to produce any kind of bass. I discovered that with any one of the rear RCAs removed, it'll put out some decent bass, but as soon as I...

    Weird slow mo sub action

Could just be the deck producing some weird subsonic interference. Does it do it all the time? If so, does it do it even with the RCAs disconnected from the amp?

You should have the subs in the rear and the mids/highs in the front. Otherwise it would be like going to a concert and standing with your back towards the band...

    Question about wiring problem

I'm not sure I really understand the first question. You're saying you don't understand how a fault on one side of the crossover could effect your amp on the other side of the crossover? It's passive right? It's just a cap and some resistors, I'd imagine there's very little electrical isolation...

    It's on....It's off.....It's on?? What's up with that?

Does it only do this when you're moving? Does the DC outlet also go out when this happens?

    Amp wire not enough?

Unless the battery is like two feet away from the amp, it should be 4 gauge minimum. I don' think he'll damage the amp, but he will melt the insulation on that wire at some point. This could result in lots 'o sparks and fire...

    Suggestions for amp whine

Does wiggling the RCA cables at the amp change anything? I've had an amp do this. Something was wrong with the RCA jacks.

Looping my REM to 12V constant

Should be fine. Just keep a good set of jumper cables with you. You'll be needing them...often.

Replace Powerbass 6.5 components or tune differently?

Your EQ settings are kind of jacked up. The "speaker in a bucket" tone is caused by too much mid range, so you want to attenuate that a little, not boost it. Same thing with the highs, if they're too loud, you want to cut them back, not boost them. Also, the extreme shrillness of the highs is...

    Distortion at low volume

No expert here, but it sounds like a bad output transistor. I have a stereo home audio receiver with a burned up transistor (accidentally shorted it) which behaves exactly like this.

    Help with a SQ Setup

I wouldn't worry too much about SNR, you're not in a studio environment here-- it's a car. You won't be able to tell a difference between 85dB and 90dB. All of those amps are going to sound fantastic. In fact just about anything should sound better than your $50 Wal-Mart special there...

    equalizer worth getting?

YES! I just installed that Clarion unit and am **** impressed. It's a very solid unit for $50 bucks. I was finally able to tone down the insanely bloated mids my Polk door speakers were producing and boost the low-end more. My system came to life. Best $50 I've spent in a while.

    good deal?

$15 each is about what they're worth. It's not a bad deal if the box is decent and subs aren't effed up somehow. Don't expect miracles out of them...
