    Why are my lights dimming?

I'm running only my amp for my speakers, 300W total. But my head lights and the lights in my car are still dimming... why? I know a car is supposed to dim at high wattage, but only 300W? Is that normal? My battery runs at a constant ~14V when my speakers are all the way up. I drive a honda...

    why is there distortion?

Ok. I don't know where my first post went... so I'll just repost. So setting the voltmeter to AC fixed the problem and now my speakers sound amazing. I never knew setting the games properly made THAT big of a difference, but wow. Much better clarity at loud volumes. Also. What would you...

    why is there distortion?

Switched it to AC and finally got a voltage readout. My gains were set WAY too high. I got it set to the user manual. And WOW. Clarity increased so much at loud levels. I can push my HU to 28 29 without any distortion at all. I had no idea gains made this much of a difference. These speakers...

    why is there distortion?

For some reason, When I hookup the voltmeter (black COM to R- and red V to the L+) to the speaker output I get no reading on the voltmeter? My battery is at 12.46V so I know the voltmeter works. When I reconnect the speaker, I get sound, why is the voltmeter reading 0.00V?

    why is there distortion?

Yes, I just found it in the manual. I feel like an idiot. Hm... ok, I'll try setting the gains using this method and get back to you. Hopefully this fixes the issue. Thanks.

    why is there distortion?

As for the high pass filter, I have it set down to 80hz, I assumed that would be high enough because the frequency response for the speakers is rated at +/- 3 db 58hz-22khz....

    why is there distortion?

hm. interesting. My gains are probably turned up barely halfway which I guestimated. So doing some reasearch... the owners manual said to set each channel on the amp to 24.6V and turn down from there as needed. If my HU's max volume is at 35, what volume should I put it at to set the gains...

    why is there distortion?

    sorry, alpine CDA-9847.

    why is there distortion?

I'm running an Alpine CDA9827 to a JL 300/4 bridged to ID CTX65CS components. The sound quality is amazing. But when I turn it up past 20-21 on the head unit volume it starts to distort? Its loud, but I would assume it should be able to get louder while maintaining the sound quality for what...

    4ch-amp bridged to components

Yup. Sometimes you just gotta hook stuff up and hope it doesn't explode.

    can anyone confirm this?

    4ch-amp bridged to components

So I did some research and here's what I'm finding. I will lose stereo if I bridge. But what I can do is use a Y adapter to put the left preout signal into the front inputs, and another Y-adapter to put the right preout signal into the rear inputs, and bridge accordingly. Does that make sense to...

    4ch-amp bridged to components

How would I go about bridging a 4 channel JL 300/4 to run a set of components? 75x4 rms 150x2 rms bridged If I just used the front left and front right, would each side get 150rms? Or would they each get 75 and there still be unused leftover power in the rears? If I bridged the front to the...

    do i need a batt/alt upgrade?

Alright, I check the voltage when I get a chance. I'm gonna do the big 3 ASAP though, I feel like its long overdue. I think this is a good site for the terimals i found on another thread: http://www.impulseelectronics.com/eyelet_terms.htm Is there a place I can find cheap wire? Online or local?
