I currently have an 8 Gauge wiring kit fitted in my car, but if I change to 4 gauge, will I only need to replace the power wire and not the ground, rca or remote wires?

I have 2 dual voice coil 4 ohm JBL Subs, first I had it wired so the positive and negative from one sub was going to the positive on and negative on the amp, and the same for the other sub going to the other positive and negative, so it was wired at 8 ohms because each sub was wired at 4 ohms...

ok so I changed my sub wiring from 8 ohms to 4 ohms, so first it was playing at 300rms and now its playing at 600rms but I dont really notice a difference? do I need to change some settings on my head unit? also I think theres some disturbance, like something is rattling? that didnt happen before..
