    2 Boston G5 : not loud enough

Okay I know the grills aren't the most beautiful ones but I don't freakin care about appearance honestly. I only care about what it sounds. Made with 3/4 MDF if I recall well.

Yeah.. Anyway I'm gonna put CLD tiles + CCF + MLV insulation all over the car and then see what does that 50hz band "looks like". We'll see !! Thx FJF & All others who gave their 2 cents.

    2 Boston G5 : not loud enough

Well the very reason I didn't try the 50 hz band that much is that it's so "boomy" to my ears that I didn't even bother trying it out extensively. I think you're in part right FJF : it might be a matter of tuning, and a matter of "bass in a car behaves that way". Not too sure about the last one...

    2 Boston G5 : not loud enough

What I meant was 8 times 1 cubic foot, based on that manual : http://mobile.bostonacoustics.com/Manuals/G5_GTR_Man.pdf It is still somewhat *big*. Now I don't know if I upset you or something, I'm not "lying because I don't wanna go ported" but I'm trying to get the most point of views...

    2 Boston G5 : not loud enough

Well... Like I said ported would be tight for my 2003 Civic. I think it was like 4 cubes per sub for ported enclosures. 8 cube is a little big now @Synyster97XLT : By "alpine" I meant the amp : MRP-850 (850wrms) can make the 2 distort. But then again like I said I *think* it's the subs that...

    2 Boston G5 : not loud enough

Yeah but that also means throwing away my custom dual G5 sealed enclosure which cost me 300$... I just want to be *sure* it's really an ported enclosure that would yield the results I want And right now I'm not hahah

    2 Boston G5 : not loud enough

teamquakecelica : What???? You mean 800wrms per sub? Aren't they rated 450wrms EACH ???? I knew sealed could take alot power but twice the rms rating is that it???? In fact I might well be confused between amp clipping and sub reaching his limit... I think I pretty well know the difference for...

    2 Boston G5 : not loud enough

They are wired in parallel (2x4ohm) @2ohm total impedance. Gain on amp is set 3/4 but I set it manually on the radio. No bass boost (I find bass boost gives boomy bass too much) and LP filter on amp is 100hz or something, and on the radio 80hz. The amp is rated 850wrms... Maybe my box is the...

    2 Boston G5 : not loud enough

Well with the alpine I can already make them distort... Is a ported box gonna make such a huge difference? Or is it that for the type of bass I want they aren't the good type of subs? Reviews were quite good of the G5... Barely heard 15'' or 18'' subwoofers yet, are they what I would be...

    2 Boston G5 : not loud enough

Hi all, I want to know what you guys think... I put two Boston G5's in a sealed enclosure (ported would be too tight for my civic 2003 it seemed). I thought those supposedly great subs would kick ass but I'm slightly disappointed. Running those off Alpine MPR-850 (should be a great amp) and a...
