    Questions regarding wattage and such.

I know it was answered above, but what is the logic behind not mixing subwoofer brands? I mean, if they have the same wattage, and are in 1 box, is it still bad?

Okay, last questions... I take it adding to the bass via the equalizer in my head unit, or turning on "loud" via my head units equalizer is a quick and easy way to blow my woofers? also, does wire gauge affect the sound much?

    K. I watched the tutorial, looks like I need a multimeter as stated previously. I'll try and work on that. So all my local walmart really carries is sony, but has a few jvc subs, and apparently has some pioneer subs, but haven't seen them in yet... and walmarts about the only place i can get...

Yeah I did when I had the 2 12's that popped, but like I said, they were only 400watts. I didn't have it on when I only had 1 10in on there, and that burned up too. I'm going to try and get better wire too, I'm currently probably using about 18g wire, and sounds like I should have 12-14g for...

K sounds good guys. I was looking at the manual finally, which I should have done first, of my amp... turns out I have to have that LPF switch on if I have subs hooked up, which I was unsure on, and also, apparently if I only have 1 sub hooked up, I have to hook it into the first + and the...

That probably will be an option in the future. I just want to get all of this working somewhat decent until I ship out to basic training, and once I'm done and back from my AIT I'll be upgrading with some spare cash. So what are your suggestions so I don't blow this 1200w sony sub like I have...

see here's the thing... not too much of that made sense to me. Don't get me wrong, i'm a very technical savvey person, as I work in computer programming and website design, however car audio, isn't my thing, so to speak. so basically you're saying get different woofers? I'll try running those...

umm, I'm not sure, but I know I need help.

It's a Sony XPLOD amp, 1000w... purchased at my local walmart. my friend has it and it seems to power his two bridged 10's in a box fine... so i'm guessing it'll be alright for my 2 12's once i have them boxed and hooked up. I'm not going for anything too killer, just wanted a little extra...

All went well, and it worked. now, today driving around, I smelt burning in my car, like something on fire. checked my subwoofer when i stopped later, and it wasn't bumping like it should be, tapped hard a...
