I need some help before I drive my car into the river! I just installed my Alpine amp and now it has been shutting down and saying its getting too much current. I also here a nasty buzzing sound that coincides with the engine rpm, on top of that there is a clicking sound that accompanies this...

I have two 6.5" Hifonics @ 4Ohms in the front doors (Chan 1 & 2) and two JBL 6x9's at 2Ohms in back. (Chan 3 &4).

Really, I can add, not replace? SWEET! You mean leave the wires be and simply have two wires comming off the positive alt? One original and one new (1/0gauge) fused to the pos battery terminal?

Thanks for the info, but what do I do with the wire that is currently connected to the alt and pos battery post? It is bundled with a bunch of other wires and it runs through my fuse box. Do I just wrap the hell out it with electrical tape or shrink wrap tubing to prevent a short??

Similar situation happened to me about a month ago. But, you see...I'm smart enough to know to disconnect the Neg terminal, but dumb enough not to act on my knowledge. I was actually removing a speaker in my door and all of the sudden my speakers started whaling what seemed like the worst...

Also, what's a good rule of thumb for my in-line fuse on the power wire from Batt to Dist Block given my system parameters? Do I need a fused Dist Block also? If so, what size fuses should I install?
