unOfficial 2008 alpine iDA-X--- series HU thread

I've had the exact same problem with the IDA X100 - PAC SWI JACK combo. When the dimmer is set to ON in the head unit, and the headlights are on, steering wheel controllers are disabled. Turn the dimmer off, and the steering wheel controllers work again. Very annoying driving around with a...

Weird Subwoofer Problem - Please Help Me!

:eek:Well, mystery solved. Got my hands on another amp to check the connections and the woofer. It's the monoblock... it's a dud. Anyway, off to the retailer to see what they're gonna do about it. Thanks to everyone who chipped in to try and figure out the problem.

Weird Subwoofer Problem - Please Help Me!

No, the sub is a 4ohm SVC. So that's not the issue and has been wired cleanly and carefully. 40A x 2 is shown on the amp wiring diagram at the BATTERY. The amp has two 25A fuses in it as per its specs. And as for the grounds, can some clarify whether this thread...

Weird Subwoofer Problem - Please Help Me!

Another detail that might help... The manual for the mono amp specifies: Fuse (40A) x 2. Which I still don't really understand how you can fuse an amp twice at the battery. Anyway, I have a 100A fuse protecting the main 4gauge power wire at the battery, then a 30A fuse at the DBlock protecting...

Weird Subwoofer Problem - Please Help Me!

How does that cause the amps power to fluctuate? And does that have a flow on effect to the sub making it pulse? I like to understand the "whys" when I fix my screw-ups.

Weird Subwoofer Problem - Please Help Me!

As in there is a split in the RCA's somewhere or the tips touched or are touching bare metal? Are they screwed now?

Weird Subwoofer Problem - Please Help Me!

Searched hard and couldn't find a post with these symptoms. Wired in the sub today and it just started acting weird. 4gauge power into distribution block. 2x 8gauge into 4 channel and mono amp. Pioneer GM-D7400M mono amp into Kicker 8" sub. Wiring seemed straightforward. + to + and - to -...

    Power wire fuses?

Cool. Thanks for looking. It seemed super weird to have 2 fuses at the battery. I'd rather find out now though than watch the amp detonate. I wonder why they say 40Ax2 then?

    Power wire fuses?

Picked up a Pioneer GM-D7400M Mono Amp to run my sub. The wiring diagram in the manual shows a fuse holder at the battery and says Fuse (40A) x2. Any ideas what they are specifying? Do I need to somehow run two 40A fuses or an 80A fuse? Or do they just want me to use a single 40A fuse and...

    Putting fans in...

How about this: Philips XP640 amp has a terminal in the Power, Ground, Remote block. It is labelled "ACC + 12V" and the manual describes it as: "Other sound components (for example active crossovers) with 'REMOTE' input can be connected to this terminal." Is this a 12V out and could it be...
