They were 6 x9's in a 5 x 7 hole i think. How will baffles help them fit in the whole? I don't want to cut the holes to make them bigger..

what's a baffle? and how would it help them fit? is that gonna improve the sound quality?

I have a 96 Mercury sable and I just bought some 300 watt rear speakers. They were just a tad big for the holes already there, and they sound alright unless I turn up the volume too high. Was wondering if there was a way to fix this? I don't know if the hole's have to be exactly the right size...
