First off, thanks for the quick responses! There would be about 1 1/2 feet behind the port as it is a super cab. Only thing in the way of the port would be the occasional person sitting back there.

This new box is going to be ported and should look like the picture below. The sub is a Rockford P3D212 and this will be my first vented build. Now it will be much easier for me to put the port on the back of the box like in the picture but from what I understand most people put it on the same...
