    Sub smells like plastic smell.

I've had several cvr 10's and 12's and some cvx 10's in ported and sealed enclosures and have always had that smell when they get wailed on worse smell with ported box but they all smell when they are pushed to the limit, I've had some that have lasted along time and some of the cvr's that only...

    Type X build

I have my type r tuned to 32hz in a 2.3ft^3 box with a 5 inch round port and it gets off really well running on an mrd-m1005 at 2ohms which is a little more power than that speaker likes but if you watch it, its good.

    5" port

The reason I have port noise according to Alpine tech support is too much port velocity (too much air being forced into an area not large enough too handle it) not port type.

    5" port

The box is already built and I have recently had major shoulder surgery so I'm in no condition to build right now, so a slot is out of the question for now. And as far as the port diameter is concerned, I have a 4" port now and I'm getting a little bit of port noise so I called Alpine tech...

    switched to type r's

Thought about the elbow to make the port lenght and had my son looking for the formula for volume of a cylinder (because the 90 adds volume) when a friend turned me onto a port calculator and I went back to the info I had saved from building the box and found I was wrong its, 2.55 with the...

    switched to type r's

went and measured alpiine said 4" port 15" long but the box is 14 3/8" deep so gotta figure out another port size and length.

    switched to type r's

Took out the 2 12" cvr's and went with 1 type r 12" in a 2.36 ft^3 sealed box and it sounded great but smoked in 15 mins of hard play. I left it plating while I cleaned up the tools and didn't smell the burning, got it replaced and called alpine they said the box was to big for sealed and said I...

Sealed louder than ported in truck cabin?

I have a pair of cvr 12's in a sealed enclosure in my 07 ex-cab silverado and it's load (135db on a termlab mic) but I think I could do better with a ported enclosure. And we tried it with the doors open or closed 2db's less with doors open, although it sounds much louder with the doors open.
