I have my type r tuned to 32hz in a 2.3ft^3 box with a 5 inch round port and it gets off really well running on an mrd-m1005 at 2ohms which is a little more power than that speaker likes but if you watch it, its good.

The reason I have port noise according to Alpine tech support is too much port velocity (too much air being forced into an area not large enough too handle it) not port type.

went and measured alpiine said 4" port 15" long but the box is 14 3/8" deep so gotta figure out another port size and length.

Took out the 2 12" cvr's and went with 1 type r 12" in a 2.36 ft^3 sealed box and it sounded great but smoked in 15 mins of hard play. I have a pair of cvr 12's in a sealed enclosure in my 07 ex-cab silverado and it's load (135db on a termlab mic) but I think I could do better with a ported enclosure. And we tried it with the doors open or closed 2db's less with doors open, although it sounds much louder with the doors open.
