Yeah I think your amp is definately going into protection mode. It doesn't matter how long the amp's been on because it's not cutting out because it's getting too hot. Put to use the suggestions above and see what happens.

I don't know about MTX, but JBL has been in the amp business for years. Car audio is relatively new, but they have been rock solid in pro audio for decades. I have a JBL amp and am perfectly happy with the performance.

Could be several issues. You may have a loose power or ground wire, or you could have a more serious electrical system charging issue. Does just the CD player turn off and on or does it seem as if the electrical system of the car chokes? Do the settings on the CD player reset to their defaults?

What exactly is it doing? It won't go into any gear but 1st? It maybe simply your synchros going out, not the entire tranny...what are the symptoms?

Does it act as if it's straining for power or is it just hard to turn over? It may be your starter especially if the battery is farily new.

How are you recharging it? Are you letting the car sit idle or did you take it out and charge it some other way?

Also the impedance of the Bostons is around 3 ohms while your stock speakers could be 2 ohms, causing the sound difference.

Since you're not doing a major overhaul and you have a relatively small budget to work with, you might want to look into one of the Infinity BassLinks (amp and sub together). All you would have to do would be to run the power, remote, signal, and ground wires and you would be done with it.

Contact eBay about that...at the least they might be able to get rid of that negative feedback.

When your looking at everything, make sure the fuse isn't blown, and if it is, try and figure out WHY it blew (i.e. wires touching, power wire shorting against chassis). It could simply be a loose ground or +12 ignition wire. Only way to know for sure is to look!

Right, the only reason you would need one is if you had more than one amp.
