Most cars computers and electrical system can handle 15 to 15.5 volts. Is there any way to change out the voltage regulator to something in this range?
no I am not driving it to distortion now, I did that when I set the gains.
The kicker clipped at low volumes because it had no power. The amp was overated with a huge heatsink and high fuse rating to make it look more powerful that it was.
If amp manufacturers posted their actual current draws and efficiencies you wouldn't need forums like this, probably 75% of the amp manufactuers would go out of business too.
Car audio is a black art. Good amp brands are spread by word of mouth and a good brand today can turn into a bad...
it is the crossover that comes with the speakers. My CDT HD's were doing the same thing. I opened the crossover and found a blown capacitor and resistor. It can cause your speakers to blow so check it soon. I had this happen twice before I decided to go active.
I sold my kicker kx800.4 and bought an infinity 7540. Both are sold as 100x4 amps. The infinity has 1/2 the fuse rating 60A vs 120A. The infinity is 1/2 the size.
The infinity blew away the kicker. With the kicker the sub would start clipping before it ever got loud. With the infinity it...
I have 3 way 642 CDT components. This is in a 93 civic. The 6.5's are in the door and the midrange/tweeter in kickpods. The sound stage is low, I believe it is because the car is small and the kickpods are hard to angle up. Any suggestions?
I bought to 10"'s. I noticed in the manual that these have a very low sensitivity (83db.) Are they worth installing are should I exchange for something that will be louder like infinity perfects. My amp powering these is a Pheonix Gold Octane R 15.0 1000 watt into 2ohm RMS.
My point is when comparing amp SPECS all you have to go by is fuse rating. When was the last time you saw an amp specification that listed effeciency.
I am not saying that an amp with a higher fuse rating is always better just that when you are looking at specs it is the best indication of...
