well you replaced one cvr with two 8's that handle more power, and ported them. was there ANY doubt at which would be louder?

recheck your ground connection and your acc, mem, and power wires. check the connections with a test light

slow is good with deadener. you wanna make sure you get every nook and craney with it, no air bubbles, compress it as much as possible.. it can be time consuming, but obviously well worth it in the end. hell, everything with audio should be done slowly. work smart not hard, measure twice, cut...

1508's will take more power, and can and will get louder. but properly powered and installed with the right box, the cone area advantage of the CVR's may not get it louder on the mic, but it will be louder to the ear than two 1508's. so the real question now is, do you want to meter higher, or...
