The sub is not done. It tested fine. What's wrong with Rockford Fosgate P400-2 amplifiers? I think it was my fault by touching the speaker wires together. Not trying to argue, just need some feedback.

Since i had the syetem installed 02/08, I took it to my audio guy. I told him the sub would bump for 15-20 seconds, then quit and start smoking. He tested the sub with some kind of meter which tested fine. Apparently no damage to coils, cone are any part of the sub. it just got really hot...

i'll check the wires again and make sure nothing is pinched. If they were pinched, isn't my amp suppose to go into thermal protection mode? what do you mean by throw a dmm on the sub coils? -

what do you mean? it turns off when the head unit is turned off.

i didn't change anything on the amp. All i did was disconnect the + and - from the enclosure, removed the enclosure, installed 2 days later (with + to - and - to +). corrected to + to + and - to -. Amp did not go into thermal protection. I get bass for 20-30 seconds and it smokes and quits...

i reversed the speaker wires. is that a big no no? MAN!!!!....I REALLY LOVED THAT SUB TOO.

dman: What do you mean by "amp's output(180 phase)"? srim: it does not make a crunch sound when i push on the cone. The amp pushing it is a Rockford Fosgate P400-2. Is this amp suppose to provide any kind of reverse poloarity protection to the sub? -

This weekend I removed my sinlge JL W312 sealed enclosure from my Yukon to make more room in the cargo area. When i put it back in and turned on the system the sub cutt out. I immediatly turned the system off and checked all my amps, connections and grounds only to discover i accidently hooked...

I am considering purchasing 2 pairs of JL Audio VR650CSI's. Where is the best location to mount the crossovers. Should I place it somewhere accessible or in the doors. If somewhere accessible.....where?
