    Amp Modification

Well, these amps are pretty highly underrated to begin with. From my measurements, my 200a4 is putting out just under 50 watts RMS per channel in 4 channel mode. The 400a4 is rated for 50x4 RMS, so if they raise output by 15%, they've exceeded the 400a4 specs and underrated it.

    Amp Modification

Not that I'm willing to risk damaging this amp. If I really want a 400a4, I can pick one up on ebay for 80 bucks. It's just an interesting find...

    Amp Modification

That's what I expected as well. I looked over all 6 pages, and the only noted difference in the schmatic are 2 additional capacitors in the HV rail, 2 in the 12v rail, and a pair of resistors on the HV rail. The differences are called out plain as day, and the schematic is for both amps.

    Amp Modification

It really sounds too good to be true. Your statement is probably the most likely scenario. I found it interesting though, that the same schematic is used for 2 amps. Seems like there was probably a lot more profit for RF on the 400a4 - if this was truely the only difference. Maybe $5 worth...

    Amp Modification

Has anyone ever performed a modification on an Old RF 200a4 to make it into a 400a4? I have the schematic for that amp, and it's 100% shared, except for what looks like about 6 components in the power supply. It looks like you can swap out 2 resistors, add 4 capacitors, and double your output...

    200a4 Fuse Requirements

Thanks. I searched all over Rockford's website for that, how on earth did you find any discontinued product information there?

    200a4 Fuse Requirements

I just got an old RF 200a4, and I'm not sure how to fuse it. Never had an amp that didn't have a fuse built in. What size of fuse, and how to set it up inline with the amp? I assume I still fuse next to the battery, then put one inline on the 12V+, within a foot of the amp? Thanks in advance

    Pair of 8s, a 10, and a pair of Aces...wait this isn't Poker

I'm not really looking for specific brand recommendations. I know there are a lot of great brands out there...we all have our favorites. I've never had 8" subs before, and I'm wondering how a pair of them would compare to a single 10" at a wattage under 200 WRMS. I know a single sealed 10"...

    Pair of 8s, a 10, and a pair of Aces...wait this isn't Poker

I have room for an enclosure to house either a pair of 8" subs, or a single 10. I have around 175 watts RMS to feed to the sub channel. This is a daily driver vehicle, and I'm just trying to get the best overall sound, with some good low-end punch. Front soundstage is a pair of rsd-65's with...
