Heat it up with a heat gun or hair dryer, that'll make it more pliable.

Are you planning on bridging your amp to one channel? Unless your amp can handle a 1 ohm load when bridged, you can't wire your sub in parallel. When I say that, I'm assuming your sub has 4ohm terminals....does it?

Sub box construction. Just a pretty basic square box, 3/4 inch MDF. The "carpet" I got on Ebay, but it's more like trunk liner than carpet. Oh well, it works.

If your two terminals are 4 ohms, that will make a 2 ohm load. If your terminals are both 8 ohm, that will make a 4 ohm load. If your terminals are 2 ohm, that will make a 1 ohm load. What you have pictured is called "wiring in parallel".
