You can get the kenwood excelon kdc-x789 for around $200 shipped on ebay. It's an excellent h/u and it all the features you mentioned.

Could anyone of you guys recommend a local box builder? I'm in desperate need of ported box for my 10" but I literally have no time to even think about building one. I'm in union county, summit area. Any help is appreciated.

Is your friends type-r sealed or ported? What size is his box?

RE recommends 1.25 cubes ported, tuned to 32hz for sql. Is this a reasonable size enclosure if I'm only running 600watts? Should I go slightly larger and tune it differently?
