    Kenwood opinions

Several years ago I had the Kenwood KDC-x859, which featured the D-Mask that the model you're looking at has. I've also had a couple models that followed that featured the 3D Mask (not the same, but a large moving part nonetheless). I never had any issues with these models, though I never...

Sold FS: Kenwood Excelon KAC-X40 4-channel Amp

I bought this amp two weeks ago as a substitute amp while my JBL amp is being serviced. Well, JBL sent me a new amp a lot quicker than I expected, so I'm putting the Kenwood up for sale. The amp is in mint condition, being only a couple weeks old, and was installed with care. I'm asking for...

    AUX input on 880prs

I can't seem to find a clear-cut answer to this. I'm thinking of getting the 880prs, but I need to make sure it has a 3.5mm aux input. I know that there's a 2.5mm aux input on the front, on the under side of the face, but having seen a picture of the back of the head unit, there doesn't seem...

Small dent in Polk SR tweeter...big problem??

I'm in the middle of custom fabricating my sail panels to fit the SR tweeters in. In the process, I put a small dent in the outer ring of one of the tweeters. I don't have the speakers hooked up just yet, but is this a big problem? How much will it affect the sound? I have a couple pictures to...

Recommendations for a single 10" 300W SVC 4ohm sub for SQ?

The JBL amp isn't 2ohm stable, and the first two channels will be running my components up front. That's why I need an SVC, unless I'm missing something...

Recommendations for a single 10" 300W SVC 4ohm sub for SQ?

I'm looking for a 10" SQ sub with SVC at 4ohms rated at about 300W. I'll be bridging this to a JBL GTO75.4 II amp, which will put out 284W RMS. My budget is $200. I know there's a lot of similar threads like these, but most of the recommendations seem to be for DVC subs, and I'm looking for a...

Mounting an amp to the back of the seat

I plan on mounting an amp to the back of my rear seats. Underneath the carpeting is a thin metal sheet, but it's not a flat surface. It's got some shallow grooves and a variety of holes and openings. Should I mount the amp directly to it, or should I mount an mdf board and then mount the amp to...

A question about sound deadening doors--for those with experience

First of all, I'm on a budget. I plan on sound deadening the doors of my Mazda Protege5 and, having no experience whatsoever, I've been doing a lot of research on sound deadening. I've been searching through various forums, and I've even visited a few local shops to get their take on doing...

HU Display screen (56k v.s 4096 OEL vs 256 color OEL)

I concur with adam71. I've seen the Kenwood, and it's a nice screen, but the 780 is a significant step up. It's accurate to liken the 780's screen to a computer LCD. It's very nice.

I can't really say for sure, but I'm inclined to say that the pro mode would cater more toward component speakers.

Haha, yes, the 880 sticks out a fair bit. I wouldn't have been too concerned with that because the hole where my unit sits is a bit recessed into the dash, but yes...it does stick out. If your dash opening is flush, and not dipping in (like mine), you'd notice the deck sticking out a little...

Pictures, Details, and Impressions of the Pioneer p780mp

It looks good at night. In fact, the pictures I took are at night, though I put a lamp in the car to get a better shot. What other pictures do you want me to take? As far as what to pick, that's up to you. But from what I've been reading from your posts in other forums, I get the impression...

Pictures, Details, and Impressions of the Pioneer p780mp

You have a couple options for iPod control. One is to get Pioneer's updated iPod adapter, which is essentially a small box with two cables: one going into the back of the head unit and the other plugging into the dock connector on the iPod. This will let you control the iPod through the head...
